Next Week

Alright, Next week is going to be a busy one! Starting Monday I'm going to be at the NHCT every day through Saturday! And Tuesday I'm auditioning for a new musical! Seussicle! It's a musical based on the work of Dr. Seuss. I hope I get into it! I've heard it's not exactly the best show but I think it will still be loads of fun! And I don't just do musicals and plays for the fun of them. It's because it's what I love to do and am probably called to do. The NHCT gives scholarships and it would be amazing to get one. Anyway, back to next week. Not only is there going to be auditions, but also we have the performances for "It's a Wonderful Life"! They were really selling out so they starting selling tickets for Wednesday, too! Even though I've got such a small part, It's really fun! One of the best things to me in this particular show is the people! But I think I'm going to enjoy "Seussicle" and "Tom Sawyer" (which I'm auditioning for in February). Can't wait!

I Found Out...

Okay, I went to practice last night and found something out. As I said before I am only in Act 1 and I would sit in the background, but sometimes i would have to stand and make quiet conversation for the show where it was needed. And for the show we are Actors coming into a radio studio to be Actors on a radio show. So apparently, after I read for my character (Young Violet) for the radio, my character that had to come into the studio has to leave right after I read to go somewhere! So I'm going to be backstage during the entire play! Thankfully some of the people in the show come backstage every once and a while. I'm glad they do! I come back out at the end though for a big party with lots of people, then we all sing a song, the announcer signs us off, and we're clear! Also, I found out that our performance is going to be on the radio!!! The REAL radio! So that was exciting.I have practice again tonight, and Thursday night some people from the play, including myself, are going to be standing outside of the theatre (in costume) singing Christmas carols! And it's just starting to get even colder outside! Hopefully it wont be, too, cold! But it's still going to be fun altogether!

Introduction

Well, this is my blog and I'm going to try and update when I can about my interest and involvement in theatre. I'm involved in a community theatre right now, New Horizon Community Theatre, this is the website- http://www.nhct.org/ I've only been in one show there before (Beauty and the Beast) I had the role as a fork. Although it was a very small part, I had plenty of fun and I enjoyed the experience of being in an actual performance, and meeting new people. I came out during two songs, "Human Again", and "Be Our Guest". My friend, Avery Jones (also known as Lumiere in the performance), has both of these songs posted on his YouTube account.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MaIP8Ku5_g0 At the time 1:17 you can see me coming behind him and swaying. My silver vest kept messing up due to my fork. I have been in two other small performances, We are United, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We are United was a musical at my church one year, I had the role as Concordia (a supporting female character). Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was a small preformance at the end of going through a class. It was preformed at The Auburn Area Community Theatre (also known as the Dempsey Community Arts Center). This is the website- http://auburnact.org/ Only one boy (Benjamin Littleton) who did a wonderful job, was in it and there were many people that had a second role. He played Mike TV and Mr. Bucket. Willy Wonka was played by a girl (Lucy Rich) who did an excellent job. I played the role of Charlie Bucket. It was fun to have one of the two main character but Charlie is a bit, too, perfect. He's one of not many characters that you can't exactly add personality to. Anyway, back to the NHCT (New Horizon Community Theatre). After Beauty and the Beast was over, I auditioned for It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play. I recently got the role of Young Violet. In the movie, It's a Wonderful Life, the character shows up a few minutes after the beginning. I'm in "Act 1" but I sit for a while afterwards in the background, every once and a while having to stand up and make quiet conversation for the scene. People who are coming to see it are basically taking a step back in time before television was invented, watching a live radio show be preformed. My character, Young Violet, comes in flirting excessively with Young George, (Avery Jones, who played Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast as I mentioned before) while trying not to start up a fight with Young Mary, (Frankie Pruett, who was also in Beauty and the Beast as a fork), because she likes Young George as well. After a while, The older versions of our characters come in. Mike Morehouse (George), Andie Miller (Mary), and Casey Pruett (Violet).

We have one more full week of rehearsals before the show. I'm hoping it will go very well!!!
